The Department of Biochemistry is dedicated to imparting knowledge of molecular and metabolic processes essential for understanding normal physiology and disease mechanisms.
To develop conceptual understanding of biochemical processes and their clinical relevance among undergraduate medical students.
- Understand molecular and metabolic pathways of the human body
- Correlate biochemical abnormalities with disease conditions
- Interpret biochemical laboratory investigations
- Develop analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understand quality control and safety in laboratories
Theory: General and Systemic Biochemistry
Practical: Clinical biochemistry tests, laboratory procedures, demonstrations and interpretation of reports
- Fully equipped biochemistry laboratories
- Automated analyzers and centrifuges
- Teaching models, charts and audiovisual aids
- Quality control and sample processing units
Horizontal and vertical integration with allied and clinical subjects is practiced as per CBME guidelines.
Biochemistry forms the molecular basis for understanding disease processes and supports diagnosis and management of patients.
